Singular Cycles in the UK just opened pre-orders for its take on the 32-inch platform, the Singular Albatross. Get to know this titanium 32-inch rigid mountain bike and how to get your hands on one here…

The 32-inch flood gates have opened, and it appears small bike brands and framebuilders are excited to get the world on their 32-inch creations. Sam Alison, founder of Singular Cycles, was an early adopter of 29-inch wheels, and, as a taller-than-average rider, he’s equally excited about the new 32-inch platform.

The new Singular Albatross is his take on a rigid mountain bike/all-rounder, built up around a titanium frame, rigid fork, and clearance for 32 x 2.5″ tires, assuming we see some more 32-inch rubber come to market soon. Just like the Swift, the Albatross can be built with flat or drop bars, and Sam tried to use common standards, though one departure is the superboost 157mm rear hub spacing to increase lateral stiffness. Other specs include a 73mm T47 outboard bearing bottom bracket, a 110 x 15mm front hub, a 31.6mm seat post, external cable routing, and 1x specific gearing.

The Albatross is available in sizes L, XL, and XXL. All sizes feature a 105mm bottom bracket drop, a 69° head tube angle, 460mm chainstays, and a 74° seat tube angle. It looks like a cross-country bike, and here’s what Sam has to say about how it rides: “Like an overgrown Swift or Pegasus, it’s designed to be a bike which is happy to cover big miles over multiple long days out – but to retain a light and lively ride quality which still makes it fun for little local blasts.”

Each Albatross will be offered as a rolling chassis, including an Albatross frame in 3Al 2.5V seamless Titanium with butted main tubes, a full-carbon Columbus fork, a Hope (White Industries in the US) Headset, a hand-built 32″ wheelset with a carbon rim upgrade option, and Maxxis Aspen 32 x 2.4” tires. Pre-orders for this very limited run of rolling chassis are available now, priced at £3,450 ($3,900). You can order one through March 20th, and frames are expected to arrive in June.
